What's the Difference Between Pimples & Acne
Acne ("acne vulgaris", to be precise) acts on the skin's oil glands. Essentially, "acne" refers to the overproduction of oils and secretion. For most people, the effects of acne arrive at the onset of puberty and typically abate within five to ten years.
This inflames your glands and ducts, forming comedones (commonly known as blackheads). Comedones plug your oil ducts, leading to the build-up and multiplication of bacteria. These small abcesses are known as pustules (whiteheads). Blackheads and whiteheads are both types of pimples, and are the two most common pimples caused by stress.
Why Does Stress Causes Pimples
According to WebMD, the jury is still out when it comes to the way stress causes pimples. One theory is that when you're stressed, your cells produce more sebum--one of the causes of pimples and/or acne cysts. Sebum is oily and mixes with bacteria and dead skin to clog your hair follicles. This is another example of pimples caused by stress.
Another theory is that people tend to touch their faces more when they are stressed. The oil from your fingers clogs your pores and creates an environment in which pimples thrive.

Of course, you'll find that some of these techniques work better for you than others, but it's important to start building your toolbox. Keep a journal, or at least a mental list, detailing what techniques work for you. You can also brainstorm stress-relief techniques by thinking about things, people, and places you enjoy.
